Mom’s Common Wisdom

Mothers in their infinite wisdom always have a way of teaching you something about life, or if your mom is like mine, their purpose in life is to make sure that their children grow up to be good people. This effort may include short reminders or overbearing attention to every aspect of your life. However we love to hate our mothers in our moments of immaturity or short-temper, there is no doubt that when they’re gone, we will always be reminded of the “You’re going to miss me!”

I was having a conversation with my mother and the topic of my dogs came up. I have two great dogs, a mix and a min-pin. They are loyal, fun, loving, and smart as heck. My Chinese, superstitious mother was complimenting their intelligence and then thought about my aunt’s dog.

“Your aunt’s son [my cousin] just got a new dog. He’s also a very smart dog,” she said. “He protects what is in the house and if anyone comes to them, he will bark at strangers. I tell your aunt, you have to feed this dog good things, and not just scraps.”

Then she continued, “You have to take care of the good things in your life to have more blessings. If you take care of the good things in your life, they will bring you more luck.”

I don’t need a Quote of the Day for my Inbox, I have my mother. Thanks again Mom for another reminder.

What are some of your mother’s common wisdom?
